VT TECH Provides Industry’s First Fully Automated Proximity Reading, Encoding, and Card Printing System

The ProxWriter System Integrates Eltron Card Printers and HID Proximity Technology

Simi Valley, California (February 4, 2003) – VT TECH Corp. introduced the ProxWriter System which integrates Eltron card printers and HID proximity (RFID) technology.  It is a fully automated proximity reading, encoding, and card printing system.  The system provides organizations with more secure access control by enabling them to customize and internally control their proximity information, and creating access cards or tags on demand.

The ProxWriter System, the first of its kind, allows Zebra Technologies’ Eltron-brand card printers to read and program proximity cards, and then print tracking numbers, identification cards, or security badges instantaneously.  The system is controlled with VT TECH’s ProxCEÔ software that reads and programs HID proximity cards.

ProxCE allows organizations to program cards with unique facility codes and identification numbers.  Information is managed within the software database, which can then be linked to external applications or databases.  Enterprises thus have the ability to easily control and track information. Included in the software is a detailed audit trail allowing administrators to track card activities.

The new ProxWriter System enables access control system users to read and program HID’s lines of proximity cards (ISOProx® II, DuoProx® II, Smart ISOProx® II and Smart DuoProx® II, ProxCard® Plus, and ProxCard® II).  The ProxWriter also programs HID MicroProx® Tags and Prox Keys®, but does not print on them.

In addition to providing greater security and flexibility, enterprises will be able to reduce costs by minimizing handling errors, reducing programmed card inventory levels, and decreasing the amount of time an operator spends creating personalized proximity cards. The system can be automated to handle both high volume and specialized on-demand production requirements.
